So, after much deliberation, I am finally ready to plunge ahead and put together my 1st system (thanks to all of you for your input, especially KBK & AlexO!) At first, I was leaning toward used European solid state integrateds like Creeks and Atolls, then toward Japanese vintage ones... but a last minute serendipitous turn has me going tube amp: Yaqin MC 10L.

Here's the dilemma: I had my heart set on Magnepane MMG. For a starter set, it seemed unbeatable - $550 new, GREAT soundstage and 'live' feel, plus a money-back guarantee & a chance to receive credit toward MG12 should I decide to upgrade within a year.

But I've been reading everywhere that Maggies require huge continuous amp-power, and I don't know if the Yaqin will be sufficient to drive them properly? Please please please let me know as I'm about to paypal tomorrow to seal the deal. (if not Maggies, I'd welcome other speaker suggestions commensurate with my purchase, similar price range (less than $600).

Thanks, as always!
