Hi- I'm new to this list, and to audiophilia in general, at least in terms of researching serious equipment. I'm trying to upgrade my system, but am on a very strict budget- hoping to spend a grand or less on a new set of speakers and amp. My current plan is to get a pair of PSB Alpha B1s ($279) and maybe a Marantz PM7001 integrated amp ($600).
I've been reading a lot of good things about the B1s on this and other sites, and I figure that they'll be just about as good as anything in the next few hundred dollar range, and that it'd be better to put the extra money towards the amp. Anyone have an opinion on the PM7001? Alternatives?
