I hope this is the right place for this post. Really could use some advice on this.
For music:
I have been using a set of AKG headphones, Behringer Xenyx 802 2 bus mixer, and a USB splitter and then a stereo mini splitter that goes to Logitech Computer speakers set as stereo mini and to the Beheringer RCA input via stereo mini to RCA splitter.
For bass:
I have a Galien Kruger combo amp and send the bass via XLR to the Behringer 802
I then added a Behringer UCA202 between the mixer and headphone output on the iMac to utilize USB.
Then my right speaker in my AKG headphones went out and I now suspect I didn't have things correctly assembled for ohm rating of those headphones. So I went and purchased a used Centrance DACport (1st edition) and the Audio Technica ATH-M50x set which came bundled with a FiiO E6 amp.
And then I decided I really didn't understand how the headphone amp should be utilized in this set up. Initially I thought the DACport would be the first in line but I'm not sure that is correct.
Right now this is the audio path:
iMac------>Powered USB hub------>DACport---->UCA202---->Xynex 802----and out the headphone jack to the MX50's.
Is that the best way to set this up?
I'm thinking I should I pull the UCA202 out completely. I also wasn't aware that the DACport has no off switch so I guess I'll have to unplug it when I'm not using it?
I've thought about taking the mix and sending it back to my combo amp and using the headphone jack on it but not sure that would be best. So any suggestions would be most welcome. Thank you!
