hello - i have a sony surround sound DVD system w/surround sound speakers for this DVD player - TV connected. i just purchased a Sony CD player and a Sony STR-AV770X Receiver/Amp Manual, and i have a Stanton turntable.
i only have the surround speakers that belong to the DVD player so i hooked up everything this way:
Turntable into Amp (Phono In)
CD Player into Amp (CD In)
Amp out (using Graphic Equalizer Adaptors Out) to DVD Player (Satellite Input - In)
I set the Sony Surround Sound DVD Player to Satellite and can use the surround sound speakers for all the equipment. So far so good.
Issue: The volume is being controlled by the DVD Player for the audio equipment. The volume from the Amp does not seem to be working at all. Even when I plug in the headphones to the front of the Amp there is the faintest sound with the Amp volume maxed. The Amp speaker selection is A+B, A or B, or OFF. Regardless of the speaker setting the same faint sound is heard. Also, the mute is definitely off. there are no speakers directly connected to the Amp and I am wondering if this is necessary to hear sound from the headphones. There is no remote to the Amp although it was originally sold with one.
The headphones work fine when using the headphone/input on the CD player but nothing from the Amp.
Any ideas?
Thank you in advance.
