As a young composer with a dream of getting into film scoring I spend a lot of time listening to movie soundtracks.

There is one thing that really bothers me about scores though... After listening to the Soundtrack I have such a strong urge to watch the movie. Its like I can't even control it. Right now I am listening to The Lord of The Rings - Fellowship of the Ring - Howard Shore. Ive already convinced myself that right after I submit this post I am going to go grab the movie and watch it all the way through

For me, instrumental music is so much more moving than music with vocals (excluding Choral Music of coarse )

-Don't get me wrong... I love Rock and Roll, There is a feeling you get from it that is truly unique. The other day I was listening to some Van Halen for example and was stopped dead by the power of some of the keyboard parts - I couldn't help smiling. (I guess that's still related to instrumentation but it moved me nonetheless)

-On the other hand I never get tingles down my spine from Rock like I do when I listen to the Overture to Handel's Messiah, or the closing scene of the movie the Island when Steve Jablonky's score kicks in...

Is anything I'm saying making sense to anyone?
