Hello,
In my search for new loudspeakers, I've found many interesting insights on this site (forum and reviews), so I joined, hoping someone could help me coming to a final choice...
I am looking for new loudspeakers for my Accuphase E-205, to replace Eltax monitors III which served their purpose very well - great value for money imo- but I've come to realize my system could perform better (esp hoping for even better sound from my Denon DL103R cartridge).
My situation: not a very big room, stands, connecting rooms together 30m2, noisy, can't play loud very often, speakers will be some 30 cm from the wall (side) and some 20 cm (behind).
Type of music: no techno, metal or disco, but apart from that everything from hiphop to jazz, psychedelic rock to classical music, singersongwriter to punk, pop, reggae. Budget: max 2000 euro or a little above.
After reading many reviews I've narrowed my choices down to the ATC SCM7, Harbeth P3esr, B&W CM5 and now I am kind of lost.
Harbeth P3esr: +build +beautiful +wonderful sound, but I started doubting because - half of the music I play has some bass, - maybe too neutral? I like a little warmth
ATC SCM7: + I expect a somewhat more bass, and + similar qualities as the Harbeth but, - find the grills very ugly (I assume my 2x80 Wpc is enough to drive them properly?)
B&W CM5: + slightly bigger, +the universal character seems to fit my needs + I can get them at a good price (1000 euro, which is less than half of what the Harbeth's cost), - don't like their looks too much.
Of course I should try and audition them, but they are all sold by different dealers in different cities from the one I am in, so basically I'd like go and audition one and buy them if I am convinced.
Anybody any insights? Or maybe complicating my life with a different suggestion;-)?
