Last week, some of you will remember that I was in the market for some speakers - my 1994 AIWA unit was not cutting it.
In the end I decided to go with the AudioEngine 5's for a number of reasons. Here is the thing that has me confused:
The AudioEngine 5's sound clearer, more detailed, and far more spacious than my old AIWA's, but... they sound smaller.
The AudioEngine's have a tad less bass on the very lowest end, which may be contributing to the difference and this has me a little surprised. The Aiwa's are only slightly larger. Why do they have more bass? Granted, it's a bit on the farty side.
Stranger than this, is that the AudioEngine 5's are picking up stray sounds; short buzzes and pops as Taxi-Cabs and Ambulances pass my home. I am assuming they are picking up some kind of radio signal. What would cause this? How can I fix it? (Can it be fixed?)
Thanks!
