I'm a beginning budget audiophile and I just started getting into higher quality audio. I would like some advice on where I can improve my setup. Heres my system:
Starts with a MSI GP72 6QF Leopard Pro Laptop. I rip CD's into it using EAC set to the Microsoft IMA ADPCM Codec set to 44.100 khz 4bit stereo high quality. I dont bother to compress them i just play the wave format using the VLC player.
That goes out via USB cable to my Creative Labs Sound Blaster Omni 5.1 external sound card.
I have my Fosi Audio BT20A amplifier 100 watt x2 plugged into the card via RCA cables.
My speakers are plugged into the Fosi amp via banana plug. They are the ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 Bookshelf Speakers. These play in a bedroom thats regular size.
I also have some Sennheiser HD600 headphones that I plug into the sound blaster card 600ohm amplified stereo mini plug port.
I listen primarily to a lot of new wave music as well as others: Simple Minds, U2, Tears for Fears, Talk Talk, Smiths, Pixies, Midnight Oil, Coldplay, Radiohead ect.
Any recommendations on where i can improve this setup? anything I should upgrade or remove/add to this setup? Anything glaring?
Thanks!
