I have just purchased a set of Bel Canto eVo2 amps to use as mono-blocks, and an eVo4 for my rear speakers. I have had no end of problems with these amps. Has anyone else had any problems with eVo amps? Have you overcome the problems?
The amps are noisier than I expected, there is a soft buzz or hum coming from each speaker when they are turned on. Given their reputation and technology I was expecting close to silence. They are noisier than my previous Rotel amps that are a fraction of the eVo's price.
The eVo amps also seem to generate a ridiculous amount of electro-magnetic interference. At a distance of about 1 foot from my tuner they wash out a strong FM signal. At a distance of about 4 feet from my TV they generate a noticeable amount of interference on "over-the-air" signals. I've never heard of any commercial product being as bad as these.
Also one of my eVo2's seems to have died with only about 10 hours of use. When I turn it on it switches to protected mode after about 3 seconds. My eVo4 lights up its protected light but still outputs a signal.
Are there any known problems with the eVo amps? Are there any suggested fixes to some of these problems?
