So if I replace my Cyrus what should I be looking at ? The Unison CD is one that I've heard great things about, and an Arcam has been suggested, and maybe Musical Fidelity A5 ? I want something that sounds as close to vinyl as possible.
Maybe I need to ditch my NAIM amps and go for valves ?
Having said all that I got the amazing Ashkenazy / Decca recording of the Rachy Symphonic Dances at the weekend, and the recording really showed off the Cyrus.
Then I played an EMI LP of Boult conducting RWV 3, done at the Kingsway Hall with the Philharmonia. The shock of hearing strings as they should reminded me how much I prefer the sound of Vinyl (from a 15 yrs old deck costing 1/4 the price of the Cyrus).
