I've been trying to buy a setup recently and have realized everything is all about home theater these days. I'm a musician/music enthusiast and only have interest in listening to music, not all the HD, 3D, video up whatever bells and whistles. I want a stereo, not some TV/movie junk.
I'm looking for a receiver under $400 (cheaper the better, but quality is important) with a dedicated phono for my turntable and I'll also be hooking up a CD player and cassette deck. I'd also love some speaker advice. I had some Infinity floor-standing speakers that I loved and I also loved the sound of the Infinity setup I had in my old car, but don't know what's good. This is for my house. I listen to mostly punk rock and rock and roll stuff with a bit of bop jazz, but I really dig everything, so I want the diversity. I don't know anything about equipment, just what sounds good. So any help you guys could give me on some inexpensive gear with fantastic sound, would be much appreciated.
