My father once gave me a record of the LvB Violin Concerto played by Alfredo Campoli with the RPO conducted by John Pritchard (HMV Concert Classics SXLP 20043). Campoli's playing is quite beautiful but I suppose this disc has more sentimental value than anything. It was one of his favourites and I remember him playing it (loudly!) on Sunday mornings from when I was very small.

[He often recounts how I used sit on the floor behind his rack pulling the 12AX7 tubes out of his Leak Stereo 20 and putting them on flatbed trucks to make tankers . He can laugh about it now, however I consequently boxed up my VPAs the instant my eldest started to crawl.]

I have looked out for this recording on CD on-and-off for years but never seen it. However it seems there is an increasing number of small labels reissuing older material often at bargain prices.

If it exists I wouldn't mind betting someone here knows about it. Any takers?
