If you listen to the commercial CD of Buddy Rich--Rich and Famous, you'd (initially) wonder how this could've been committed to CD. It's full of surface noise. Apparently, the original analog master tape has disappeared. But listen a bit longer and you'll realize why even a noisy vinyl rip was worth doing. The sound quality is reference grade all the way.
I think the CD label, Tko Magnum Meteor, didn't want to subtract from orig. sonics in any way so they didn't de-noise, etc.

On that note, can any of you folks think of commercial vinyl rips?
