Starting off with this recession is the best thing that could have happened to Obama.
The last downturn was just barely getting rolling when Bush won his first term election. His gloom and doom helped him 'win' that election.
Given the business cycle timing, by the time Obama is up for reelection, the economy will be improved no matter what he does, and he will get credit, winning a second term.
Then, all the Dems have to do is hope that the next cycle either occurs during Obama's second term and turns around before the election (not likely,) or we are prosperous and a Dem is elected in 2016 based on there not being a recession at the time.
That President will likely be a one termer like Bush I.
I'm looking at 12 years of JIMV digging deeper and deeper into his bunker and Lamont's head finally exploding in late fall 2016.
