Hey everyone. i have been frequently reading reviews of hifi equipment and very recently decided to take the plunge as i am a huge music and movie fan. To cut the story short, i am looking to upgrade my home theater setup where i already have a new tv and dvd player denon 1740. I currently have the logitech z5500 home theater system which is supposed to be the best in its class and is thx certified. I am looking to replace this with an av receiver and stereo speakers to start with, with the sub and surrounds / center to be added later. My confusion lies here:
1. What av receiver should i get that gives good sound quality for both music and movies? I have the choice of denon, yamaha, marantz, pioneer and onkyo. Budget is about $500, am currently considering denon 1709 or 1909
2.speakers - which fronts to get? Options include kef, jamo, polk audio, paradigm monitor series, mission, klipsch and canton. I have been considering kef iq90 or iq50, polk audio rti a7, or paradigm monitor 7/9, or mission m35is. also the kef 3005se, but am looking at significantly better sq than the logitechs and have not found any comparisons. Budget around $1000
Unfortunately i cannot audition most of these and cannot find comparisons on the internet. Help would be appreciated in coming to a decision.
