Hello there.
I have been saving some money to get an audio system. Music plays a very important part in my life and i really want to be able to enjoy just listening to it, doing nothing else.
I looked on the internet about good for the money systems and I have found too many possibilities, in different price ranges. So far, what I think best matches my needs and price ranges is the following system (which I copy from another post)
Speakers - Magnepan 3.6R
Amplifier - Bryston 4b - SST
Preamp - Cary SLP-98L
CD player - Rega Saturn
The best i have listened to is Martin Logan (at best buy) and Bang and Olufssen. From the forum I can conclude that the system above belongs to a totally different level. And that is what I want.
I have a few questions.Hope someone can help me here.
I love rock, bands from The Ramones to Clash, but also bands like Pink Floyd, Beach Boys, Mazzy Star, Depeche Mode, Placebo, Dire Straits, etc. I can be hours just browsing my cds enjoying the music. As I read, that system will work for that. I dont really need too much volume but quality instead.
I also enjoy watching music dvds, especially live music. So, shoud I buy a Blu Ray dvd instead of a cd player? would it be as good as the Rega SAturn for Audio? if I gotta keep the Rega and buy a dvd player, which DVD is a good option? I wouldnt want to lose sound quality. And I couldnt be able to find information for an option for a dvd on the net.
The room where I plan to place the system is small (4m x 4m), but I plan on moving to a bigger one soon (and it will be the music room, meaning nothing else is gonna be there, except for my cds). Would it be a problem for the room so small in terms of sound?
Living in South America (Peru) I dont think I will find any dealers, so I will have to ship them. Are they too fragile to be shippd? If they need to be reparaired, how difficult would it be to have it fixed, do they get damage easily? or do hey need to replace parts often?.
I also have other concerns, I consider this like the investment of my life and I really want to make sure I dont make a wrong desicion. So I will post them later on.
Thanks in advance.
