Hello all! I recently became interested in vinyl(big jazz fan) and wanted to pursue it so I dug out some old equipment of my dads from storage. I was hoping that I could get some input of the quality of these components

I hooked up an old Technics SL-5 turntable to the matching SA-5 receiver that it came with. The components seem to be in good shape and I haven't noticed any problems with the playback. They are connected to a pair of Bose 301 Series II speakers. I've looked around on the web and haven't really found any reviews or anything, and was wondering if anybody has any input as to how these compare with a setup that would cost in around the $1000-1500 range.

I'm fairly happy with the setup, but then again I have never heard another setup so I have no comparison. I do want to eventually invest in my own rig though. I haven't done extensive research yet but so far I'm looking at the Rega P1 and the Marantz PM7001. As far as the speakers, they need to be bookshelf speakers suitable to be placed on a computer desk.

Would these products or something similar be a big jump forward? I look forward to any recommendations that you guys could give me. Many thanks!

Oh, here are some links with the products that I have now...
