Greetings!
This is my first post here, I've been browsing and reading for a while now and I'm finally ready to ask some questions/advice. I will lay out what my plans and hopefully you guys can give me some advice and get me moving in the right direction.
I used to have a fairly nice Harman Kardon 7.1 home theatre system. Unfortunately I am really not a fan of their receivers and I've heard better speakers. I sold that system about 3 months ago and I'm slowly working on building it all back up. Rather than start off with the idea of 100% home theatre though I want to take a different approach.
I'll be mostly listening to vinyl, I don't do to much with home theatre/movies. My main interest is purely in Vinyl. I currently have a Philips GA-222 Turntable with a Shure M91ED cartridge in it. My stereo amp is an Onkyo TX-910, which should be good for about 45 watts. This will be set up in my small living room, which is open to the kitchen. Wood floors with 10' ceilings 10x14' floorspace.
My budget for speakers only includes the L/R front speakers currently. I'll purchase a sub once I upgrade my receiver, but I'd really like to have decent clear bass from the speakers. I know my amp isn't super powerful, but it will get upgraded in a few months. I'd really like not to go over $750 total, but I don't want to sit around second guessing myself. I'm 100% game for buying older speakers off ebay or other places.
I listen to a lot of irish/celtic world music, blues, jazz, classic rock, electronica and pretty much anything else. (currently liking The Black Keys, Cage the Elephant, The Blaggards, Social Distortion, Bo Diddley, BB King, Howling Wolf, Cab calloway and Ella Fitzgerald.)
This is my current list of "interesting" speakers:
Polk:
LSI 9
LSI 15
RTI A7
RTI A9
Klipsch:
RF-52
RF-62
RF-82
JBL:
ES90's
Vandersteen:
1C's
Wharfedale:
Diamond 10.1's
Any suggestions/advice would be fantastic. I unfortunately don't live in a place where I have much opportunity to go and listen to many speakers.
