A manufacturer who was always very pleasant to me, and was quite giving to my former audio club, seems to have run afoul of the law....and ethics.
Mark Schifter is in boiling hot water.
Mark once let the Bay Area Audiophile Society borrow several pieces of Audio Alchemy gear for extended, free-form auditions.
I ran into him later at Stereo Plus and was chatting him up and he asked how the audition went and I said I had missed part of the rotation. He went to his car and pulled out a DAC and DTI and just handed it to me and told me when I was done to just bring it back to the store.
I loved his gear, bought the peices, and still have a DTI - DTI Pro - DDE 3.0 sitting around - - hooked together by I2S bus connections, no less!
Of course, by buying his gear, I doomed his company, so I feel partly to blame here.
I've heard people's experiences with AV123 speakers range from insanely great to insanely white-van, so I'd be interested in others' opinions.
I hope it's all a big misunderstanding.
