Bought a reasonably high end digital stereo power amp direct from box - manufacturers instructions spartan and no basic set up information - advertised RMS 500w per channel, I assume this to be accurate...so how to burn it in with a totally NON debatable method? I have read reviews but they all use slightly differing methods to precondition for testing only - I am looking at an amp for life...well, maybe not quite, but I plan on using it for a good while!

I am advised at least 30 hours and never switch off once started, which I guess is the easy part, so I was thinking of buying a couple of 'anybrand' second hand speakers rated for 500w at least and using maybe ten percent increments of volume over the whole period using EITHER a passive OR powered preamp (which is best for burn in?) and upping the volume maybe every two or three hours (allowing for sleep time will probably mean more than the 30 hours?) and I was considering using (again!) an anybrand tuner for the source to provide uninterupted noise (reasonable quality cables will be used, not high end as that seems such a waste?) - so - is there such a thing as the perfect burn in these days...or is it just hike up the power for as long as possible? My idea with the throw away 'anybrands' was to give them full blast for as long as possible once I had completed my totally controlled burn in?

Neither power nor volume is my end objective - I just like the thought of high power played softly as being very clean and fresh with loads in reserve if required...a bit like that Porsche purring gently next to you at the traffic lights...

Is this all very silly as an oldie (ish) getting back into music and missing bits of his education process - does such a time consuming method really make noticable long term benefits worthwhile???
