hello i bought a 2015 27' iMac 5k , and wanted to run usb/spdif peach tree audio x1 converter to my marantz 7008 . and the results are very poor audio quality with tons of distortion , and very harsh sounding . i setup midi setting correct , and still horrible audio . i thought maybe my gear was bad , so i pulled out an old dell laptop and hooked everything up , and the sound was beautiful. are there any known hardware issues that macs have a bad history with? i just upgraded to el capitan to see if maybe it was software related , but same thing .
