I have had some transformative listening experiences with vinyl records characterized by richness, depth and an overall sense of cohesion and authentic resolution that I can't get out of my mind. I always thought that a vinyl setup that actually showcases the strong suits of analog technology would be out of my price range, but I am now questioning that. Most recently, I heard a heavier pressing of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot on a technics turntable into a pioneer sx1050 into some fairly generic seeming sony towers with nothing special connecting any of it in terms of wiring or interconnects... and it sounded great.
After some thinking, I am here to solicit opinions regarding what a basic, bargain record playing setup could be had for. I know this is less than exact, but let bargain/basement be defined as a system that is at least scratching the surface of authentically articulating the flavor and value of vinyl at the least possible price. Put another way, I want to avoid a novelty setup (i.e., vinyl for vinyl's sake, rather than what I mentioned in the first paragraph). Used is fine. I don't have a vintage fetish, but I suppose I am romantically attached to the idea of an all-analog pathway as an electric guitarist, so all other things being equal, that's the way I'm trying to go. I know next to nothing about analog receivers, speaker amps, phono stages, etc., so any help is greatly appreciated here.
