Hi All,
I want to set up a computer/amp/dac/headphone experience for my den. I don't need it to travel, I just need it to sound good so I can show people how crappy their MP3's sound.
Here's what I have: Macbook Air w/2TB of storage for FLAC's, iPad 64gb, and a pair of Grado SR60s. Oh, and I've got a couple grand sitting in my pocket.
Here's what I'm thinking: The WA7 Firefly looks wicked good. (http://www.wooaudio.com/products/wa7fireflies.html) That's $1000. How would you connect the Macbook and the iPad to it? I understand that the Mac's headphone out doubles as a Toslink, but do I care? Do I need to get a Toslink cable? What about the RCA inputs on the back - is that better or worse?
Also, I'm open to upgrading from the Grado's if I need to. I've loved my SR60's, so I looked at the RS1i's for $700. I know headphones are a personal choice, so this will elicit tons of opinion.
My musical taste ranges from Rock, Pop, Hip-Hop to Piano/Classical. No jazz or twang.
It's all a bit overwhelming. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Tim
