In the old days you could walk into record stores with little booths that you could go into and listen to samples of various records. The people that worked there were actually experts that could help you decide what performance of a classical piece was better. I miss record stores that sold cds (like tower records) where you could actually go into and browse for an hour or so before making your purchase. It was a fun thing to do. I also miss the good old days of stereo with audio only stores that you walked into and in their demo rooms there were direct to disc albums playing on a great system with amps and big speakers!! Now it seems that almost all stores are home theater stores where all you see is TVs and home theater systems with receivers. And I'm tired of hearing about ipods. The kids now don't care about good sound only convienence! Today I saw something that would make Michael Fremer pass out, a plastic turntable that records your "old records" on mp3!! AGHAST!!
