Hi - I'm brand new to this forum. I joined because I need help. I'm a pro guitarist / guitar instructor with my own studio and have been listening to music on stereo systems since around 1977 when I bought my first Marantz speaker / receiver system. More recently I have been enjoying a B&K 200/200watt amp / pre-amp setup with Canton Karat 707 Speaker / Canton sub. Recently someone gave me a vintage pair of KEF Reference 104/2s.......OMG! I'm hearing things that I never heard before in a beautiful way. Love the smooth highs, present mids & tight lows. As I worked my way through my CD collect however I notice that on quiet passages this is a slight rattle in the bass speaker on one of the speakers. I've never seen a bass woofer like these with a "post" running through the middle of them. I'm now in a delimma.......are there kits to recone this speaker? If so, how in the heck would I access the speaker to get it out or am I now spoiled and will have to purchase a new set of speakers that will satisfy my new found ears! Please help!
