This really bugs me. I've been buying a lot of LPs of late, getting into it. I love the trove of valuable, out-of-print classical LPs I can purchase for cheap, especially as I live in NYC. But! What's with all the major labels ignoring the LP releases altogether for their new releases?!? Or am I mistaken and am overlooking some vendor where I might find some new releases? This really bothers me b/c on the rock side, I can buy some new releases, like the Portishead, the Black Keys, No Age or whatever on LP, and most of them even include free MP3s or CDs with the albums. Tonight I bought the 4th and final installment of Paul Lewis' Beethoven sonata cycle on CD, very excited to listen to it. But there's no doubt I would have bought the LP version if it was available. So am I missing some obvious venue to purchase classical new releases on LP, or have classical labels gone comatose?
