I am by no means educated when it comes to purchasing audio devices. However, I know what I like and wanted to share what I have and ask what you all would recommend I get to replace a Marantz SR6006 that I currently have.
I'll start with my equipment.
Stereo: Marantz SR 6006
TV: 65" Class KS8000 4K SUHD TV
Speakers:
Front: Sony SS-F5000P Tower Speakers
Center Front: Infinity Primus C25
Rear: Polk Audio T15
Subwoofer: Polk Audio PSW108
The TV has all of my HDMI devices connect directly to it and I connect the TV to the receiver using HDMI and use ARC to pass the sound to the receiver from the TV.
Because of this, I really have no need to pass video through the receiver, I only need good audio. Maybe in the future, if the stereo has HDMI inputs, I may use them but it's not a requirement.
What I do like is that the stereo has airplay built in and that would be something I would like to have in a new stereo. I also really like clarity and balance between all the speakers. I don't like to have bass over power treble and vice versa. However, I do sometimes like to listen to them loud so that the bass does thump but the treble also stays clear and proportional. If I had to choose, I prefer the treble to be slightly louder than bass but I love the richness of it all surrounding me in the room.
I'm a big movie and tv person and get sources from all sorts. Mostly HBO Go, Netflix, and other apps on the TV. I find that if I'm watching something like the Tonight Show using over the air HD, I like to listen to that in Multi Channel Stereo because it's easier for me to hear voices as opposed to surround sound where voices really only come out of the center channel and maybe the fronts a little. When it comes to music, I mostly stream from my laptop or iphone using airplay. Sometimes I'll do amazon music as well through the Fire TV which also has KODI installed for movies and TV that I download. Those audio sources seem to typically be in 2.0 surround.
Now that you all know about what I have and what I like, could you provide me with any insight as to what type of stereo I should get to replace the SR6006 that I have now? I would keep it but recently my wife left the windows open and it rained and got into the receiver. I'm still having it dry out but I've had this stereo for about 6 years or better now so I figured it might be time to move on.
Thanks for any advice.
