First of all Hi all as I'm a "rooky" in this Forum.

The reason of this post is that I'm facing an issue with my Amp: a McIntosh MC2102 (8 KT88 valves).

Everything was OK (perfect, I would say...) for about 7 months. Then, all of a sudden, I switched everything on and I started to listen an annoying presence of "boomy" sound when low frequency instruments were played. I'm not talking about some extra-bass but a "boomy-effect" (sorry if I do not use the right terms... my English is really poor) that is really disturbing also the medium frequencies.

Of course I did all the possible tests: nothing changed in the listening room, I changed CD-player, I changed Turntables, I changed Loudspeakers, I changed cables, I connected the cd-player directly to the amp excluding the pre-amp (Mc-Intosh). The issue is in the Final amp.

As I have no experience in the "valves world" as I always had solid state gear, my question is: according to You, could it be something related to valves? If not what could it be? At the moment I'm managing the situation (heavily...) using the tone-control on the pre-amp.
The strange thing is that for the past 7 months (NOTHING was changed in the meanwhile, not even the room furniture) everything was OK...
Thanks to anybody who might give me some suggestion.
