Just entered another order for Mapleshade recordings - five CD's for forty-eight bucks. Never have bought a recording from them that I haven't kept and enjoyed despite their "return it if you don"t like it" policy. Also just finished reading through all of Pierre Sprey's "free upgrades" (tweaks, if you will) and reviewing all of the offerings for cables, interconnects, power cords, etc. Sprey has to be one of the of the top ten "tweakers", and now and then I agree with one of his - for example, I too think tweeters should be a little higher than ear level.
But has he done well selling his other products? Strangely, much as I enjoy his recordings and grant him audiophile bona fides, I've never bit for any of his magic wires, maple stands, or top and bottom heavy weights and I don't know anyone else who has either. I do use Optrix, but I've always bought it elsewhere. Do we all just buy the records? Have any of you tried his cables or interconnects etc.? If so, is he on to something that guys like Cardas and Kimber have missed? Are some of us missing out by not mounting everything on air dried maple fashioned by Amish craftsmen and coupling the equipment to the maple with huge brass weights?
