I have it in my head to transfer my collection to CD-R's so that I can avoid wearing out my Vinyl. The problem is that I have no idea at all what is required. BTW, the computer is set up for photo editing with 2gb of RAM so it should have plenty of power. The operating system is XP-Pro.
Cost is a factor. I would like to keep the total under 500 dollars if possible. I would also like to be able to remove the occasional ticks and pops that are inevitable with Vinyl. My plan is to record to the WAV format and then rip from that file to the CD-R using the standard encoding for a CD. What I need is a recomendation for an easy to find sound card and a editor that is easy to learn quickly.
