This is my first post so take it easy. I am very delberate before I buy anything which leads to weeks of research before buying anything new. I've been wanting to get a little more into HiFi and started off buying HD280's (Senn's) and then PC360's (Senn's for gaming). I've been dabbling in the idea of creating a 5.2 system in my office (12' x 12'). But after reading so many boards and suggestions it's difficult to come to any conclusions on equipment.
For the DAC I really like the Schiit Bifrost with UBER or Emotiva XDA-2. As a heads up I currently have a Halo Claro Plus in as my sound card.
I am a little fuzzy as to what to do afterward it seems, It seems that most have powered speakers i.e. AudioEngine's A5+. But I've seen alot of guys going Preamp and then amp to speaker.
I mostly use my computer for gaming but love to listen to music as well, hense the reasioning for wanting surround. Any suggestions or pointing in the right direction would be appreciated.
