Recently I inherited some gear and am looking for suggestions on how to best set it up / what to add in order to maximize the situation. I'm not an audiophile, but would consider myself a serious music fan. For the past 10 years or so I've run a mid-level Denon rack system with some nice Boston speakers (not bookshelf, but not top of the line either). I now have a HK AVR 635 receiver, a Scott 222-D integrated amp circa mid 1960's, a pair of Klipsch corner horns, a Technics turntable (believe an SL-1200 although I don't have it in my possession yet), Yamaha CD-C600 disc player, and 4 small PBR speakers that were used as part of a home theater. I have a basement that is roughly 13 x 20 that I've used as a home theater. While I had no intention of changing my set-up, I listened to some vinyl with the Scott amp / Technics turntable / corner horns (at the previous owners) and it was unlike anything I've been able to get out of my existing system. So, my question to the audiophiles out there is, with my mish-mash of gear, what components do I need to add / change, and how would you set up the gear, to maximize the experience as a starting point to building out a better system? I guess I'm just looking for some guidance on if it's worth changing what I have, or just keep running with the rack Denon system. I definitely see myself getting more into the hobby. Any and all suggestions and opinions are much appreciated.
