Audiophile siblings,
My parents recently moved house for the first time in over 25 years and my father (now a sprightly 79) decided this was as good an excuse as any to invest his 'final' stereo. Good to know the old man still has his hifi mojo!
Since they were downsizing he wanted something compact, however since he particularly loves pipe organ he wanted something as near to full-range as possible. Needless to say JM's two series on budget systems for serious music lovers offered invaluable guidance on this quest. After some auditioning we decided on a Naim Uniti (very interestig unit, I strongly urge anyone in the market for an all-in-one a la Arcam Solo to check it out) and British PMC FB1i floorstanding transmission-line loaded two-way speakers. He kept his LP12/Ittok/AT OC5 which feeds the Naim through a Project head-box - although he is already Jonesin' for the Naim phono stage. Like father like son
Anyway, the new system has among other things rejuvenated his interest in his vinyl, including one particular record which is actually the first he ever bought, a beautiful recital by Belgian organist Flor Peeters (this* one).
Since his LP copy is now really showing its age my mother asked me to investigate if this was available on CD. Googling around I have been unable to find anything by Flor Peeters on CD, let alone this disc, but thought I would ask if any of you good folks were aware of any obscure (possibly even uncomputerized - if such things still exist!) sources that might elude a normal Google search. In fact, the broader question, is any such thing as a more-or-less definitive catalogue of CDs that are or have been in print available online?
In anticipation of a flood of responses.
* I have bought a second copy of the record, reputely in excellent condition, which I intend to run through the record cleaner and then rip on the bigrig as a backup. Never ripped vinyl to digital before but it's about time I tried my hand at it.
