Has anyone tried any of the VTA adjusters for the Rega arms? I currently have the Expressimo piece, but it only adjusts for VTA on the intial set up and then is a fixed height unless I loosen the nut beneath the table for each adjustment. That's a bit of a pain for each disc. I've seen the Pete Riggle VTAF which looks interesting. Of course, everyone claims improved sound for this product even without adjusting VTA. (I thought "blacker blacks" was just for TV's.) I can understand the idea of a gravity held arm with this device but it almost seems a bit like a Rube Goldberg design. And, though the final cost is, I suppose, minimal to include sandpaper to ream the mounting hole; do I really need to pay to get sandpaper shipped to me? I think I can find sandpaper and a dowel at the local hardware store.
The VPI adjuster is the other option. Or, is it? I cannot find any information that suggests it allows for any simpler VTA adjustment over the Expressimo. I've read that it is a very well designed device but have not found much else. Also, it would appear to be a device VPI doesn't keep in stock and has no interest in promoting. I'm in a waiting game with VPI right now for a non-stock item, and I am not that interested in another six to eight month wait for yet another small piece they have no great interest in supplying. I'm glad VPI is doing so well with their tables sales, they deserve the success; but they seem to have lost interest in their old customers unless the item happens to be in stock. Is it worth waiting for Shiela to get around to ordering this item? Is the VTAF just as good? Or better still?
