I'd like to remove some of the sibilance from what I hear from my speakers without remastering any of my recordings. Since much of what I listen to is on mp3 (obviously not the best choice) this is often a problem in this format.

I just read an article about an equalizer doing the job nicely.

Could anyone weigh in on this? How does one go about choosig an equalizer?

If it's in any way relevant this is for a music only system withe the following equipment: Harmon Kardon HK3485 receiver, Onkyo DXC390 6 disc mp3 player, 2 Infinity Primus P362 mains, and an HSU STF-2 VTF3 subwoofer.
