Hello from a guy lost in between beloved FLAC files and the USB port.Apparently I am clueless when it comes to modern audio software and its nuances. I have a Peachtree Preamp with Dac that I am trying to connect to a good but older pc running on Win XP Service pack 3 via a USB port. I have had several issues from total frustration and inability to connect to connections that get permanently lost when I turn the preamp off or even just subject it to extended play. It seems like the issue is with the USB port configuration or even more likely the virtual connection my audio software makes. I am currently running Realtek HD Audio Manager. I prefer Durability and robustness over glitter and gimmick. If anyone can suggest some good audio manager software that will allow output up to 24/192 and won't make my brain hurt, raising the level of my tinnitus, I would be very grateful. I am currently experiencing my first layoff not self imposed in 45 years so new computer hardware is last on my buy list.
Of course, besides software suggestions, suggestions for method would also be appreciated.
Regards,
