Hello again folks,
I got my turntable ( VPI Scout ) set up and playing but I am having a terrible problem with static. No problems when the record is playing but as soon as I touch the tonearm lever...snap, crackle and pop! Experimented with touching the tonearm...same thing. If I keep my finger on it I can hear a hum from the speakers.
I am using Audioquest Big Sur Interconnects through a Vincent PHO 700 phono stage and Rogue Audio Shpinx integrated amp. I have wooden floors and the stand/rack is a Solidsteel 5 shelf rack with spike feet sitting in Audio Serenity spike shoes to protect the floor.
Any idea how to get rid of the static? I jump out of my skin with the popping and cracking each time I life the tonearm at the end of the record.

Thanks

David
