The other night I was putting clothes away so I switched on my Scott 460A integrated amp. I had the Marantz ST 500 tuner OFF. What I picked up at a low level through the speaks was Spanish talk with some static. I raised my eyebrows.
Then I recalled a Toshiba analog tuner I had in the mid 80's that did picked up the same Spanish speak up and down the AM dial. That might be OK if I was close to the border but I am on Green Bay and in the 80's Lake Superior.
