I am looking for some recommendations on which receiver I should get for my home.
Currently I am using a B&K AVR505 for movie and TV at my house. I really like the receiver, but it's dated and doesn't have many new features like controlling through iphone, airplay, HDMI in and out, and etc. I have a HDMI to optical device for the B&K.
The scenario is, I am remodeling my home and would like to install in-wall speakers in 4 areas. I am looking to have a 5.1ceiling speakers at the family room, 3 ceiling speakers in the master suite, 2 speakers at the guest room, and about 5 in-wall speakers at the hallway and common areas. I am looking to install all of the electronic devices into a electronic area which is located under the stairs. It will be harder to access into that area regularly, hence, I want to be able to control the receiver from other rooms.
I am looking for an AVR that can support music for 4 rooms (fam rm, master rm, guest rm, common area for music only), HDMI video and audio output to the family room, guest rm, and mastersuite, airplay, mobile phone control, and other new technology.
I have look into Onkyo 636, Denon 4520, and Marantz 7008. I also have the B&K, 2 psb floor stand speakers and a psb center speaker. My question is, 1) what AVR on the market you would recommend me to look into and why? 2) would I be able to incorporate my B&K into my home system? If I can, is it worth to buy the wall IR sensor? 3) I am debating if I should use the floorstand speakers for the family room, what do you think? 4) should I get a volume control for the rooms?
