Hi

I'm new to this site and beginning to build my first serious hi-fi system but I would like to know what I'm talking about when I hear music and describe the sonic characteristics of the system. A glossary is useful but what would be ideal is a cd with an sample sound and the description of this sound in terms of the main characteristics like frequency response, soundstaging etc so that I can get a handle on what each term used actually sounds like. I know it is subjective but it would be a great starting point.

Does such a resource exist and if so can you direct me to it.
