Hi

All the tweeter stores are closing in Chicagoland.

While this is not necessarily a big deal for serious audio people Tweeter did sell a lot of higher end kit to the mainstream. Brands like Focal, Krell, Cambridge etc.

Therefore the audio industry really needs to dig deep and realise they are not recession proof and if anything are at the forefront of items to be cut from a budget. We need companies to step up and offer good value products that sound great. I know we constantly debate the pricing of high end equipment, the pricing has little reflection on the intrinsic value of the componentry. This will have to change, particularly I believe for the hifi world level products, the $100k turntables are purchased by recession proof individuals, its the over priced $10k TT guys that should be $3k that needs to wake up.

There will be a large amount of consolidation and natural wastage over the next year or so. I predict that companies like NAD that stress value will be the ones surviving

Alan
