My compliments to WP for a sensitive write-up of von Otter's tremendous "Terezin/Theresienstadt." Especially fine, I thought, were his thoughts on Gerhaher's rendition of Pavel Haas's "Four Songs on Chinese Poetry."

I bought von Otter's recording immediately upon its release, especially as I'm actually writing something on Terezin in regards to the work of the late German writer, W. G. Sebald. I've been listening to von Otter's new disc incessantly, while writing about it. Perhaps I'll post a casual blog soon on the Terezin songs and Sebald's discussion of Terezin in his works...

P.S. - also: I really enjoyed reading JA's review of Silverman's Rachmaninoff disc. And Erick Lichte on the composer vs performer issue. The allusion to Mendelssohn, I thought, was really inspired, especially as it casts a telling light on the virtuoso tradition in the 19th century. Just too much good writing in this issue!
