Hey guys, I'm in need of some input here. I just ripped a CD in Apple lossless format, and put it on my ipod. I had the same CD ripped in MP3 format at 128 kbps on the ipod also, so I could do a side-by-side comparison (the album was Alice in Chains' self titled album, full of clean acoustic guitars, harmonized vocals and intricate drumwork). I did the comparison using my Etymotic ER4p's, and then using my Shure E5C's. Much to my dissappointment, the two rips sounded almost EXACTLY the same in terms of sound quality, despite the lossless version having file sizes of roughly ten times that of the original rip. I was expecting to hear crisp highs and rich lows that blew the original 128kbps clear out of the water, but even when listening closely on excellent quality earphones, the differences were little if any. Can anyone explain this to me, or offer any input as to how to get the most out of my music? Thanks in advance-Jordan
