I'm sure this has been asked before and what advice do readers generally have for places to sell audiophile-grade HiFi of a recent vintage (late 80s onwards)? No item should sell for more than about $800-900 (equivalent currency) and unless a great offer is received, would prefer to sell the separates piece-by-piece (e.g. turntable+tonearm+cartridge, speakers, pre-amp, power amp, chords, support equipment) at various times. One or two items may only go for $300-400. eBay seems a logical choice, but seems that many private sellers prefer 'collection only' for delicate items (e.g. turntable) and dealers more so by post. I am willing to entertain both options, but want to minimise risks associated with potential scams or pitfalls (no disrespect to authentic buyers/bidders) and whether to use 'Buy It Now' or 'Bids'. If postage is used, it would be fully insured/tracked. Plan not to sell abroad (initially anyway). No equipment is really in the high-end (e.g. $20000 tube amps).

If not a popular auction site, I could try more traditional means such as specialist HiFi magazines, websites or sell direct to a dealer (e.g. with insured door-to-door pick-up). What about Gumtree? I presume it would sell faster on eBay and have wider coverage.

Although it would be a shame to see a long cherished system go, it is not used now and preference for digital streaming services for the future and I don't have a great LP collection anyway (and not really the space to allow better system sonics). The items are no longer on sale, except second-hand. Some items had great reviews when released (for their price range/category).
