So…for reasons that aren't all that important right now, I have around $400 in Apple store credit. I'd like to add a wireless speaker to my workspace computer, and I'm limiting myself to what Apple offers (http://store.apple.com/us/accessories/all-accessories/speakers). The top contenders, it seems to me, are the Harman Kardon Aura and the Bang & Olufsen Beoplay A2. Or maybe the Bowers & Wilkins T7, I don't know. But I could be way off.
I have a private—but small—office, around 8 feet square, with plenty of sturdy and stable surface area to place the speaker on. It could go in a corner at normal desk height, atop a five-foot bookshelf, on the floor, pretty much wherever. The only sound-absorbing material in the room is some low-pile commercial carpet; the rest of the office is wood, painted drywall, plastic laminate (on the desk and shelving), and glass.
I'd be listening to Apple Lossless Files through iTunes. My tastes run from Miles Davis to John Zorn to Harold Budd to Arvo Part to Bach to the Grateful Dead. If I had to pick a single record label to listen to for the rest of my life, it would be ECM.
Other considerations: I'd like a single unit with no wires because—please don't laugh—clutter distracts me. I'm a writer, and distractions are bad. (At work, anyway.)
Any ideas? I know it's not exactly hi-fi, but I thought I'd throw it out there and see if anyone could help me out. Thanks very much for any suggestions.
