Soundkeeper Recordings Debuts

Like most Stereophile readers, we have grown accustomed to seeing Barry Diament's name on superb-sounding recordings, since he has mastered albums by artists from AC/DC to Warren Zevon—and every letter in between. When the magazine still had its editorial offices in Santa Fe, Diament dropped by one afternoon to say hi, so now we feel like we can brag, "Hey, we know that guy!"

Soundsareactive.com Offers Multi-Platform Subscription Package

For $35 (US price; the international price is $50), the label will send monthly downloadable MP3 (192kbps) releases for the rest of 2005, four "physical" CDs, and a "tour" DVD titled XN+.

South Boston Audio Event, Saturday March 21

The Audio Shoppe (2 Keith Way, Suite 4, Hingham, MA—behind the Derby Street shops just off Exit 15, Rt3) is promising a day and evening of great, vinyl-based music and hospitality this coming Saturday, from 1pm–8pm. The system will include electronics from Zanden Audio, Verity Audio loudspeakers, TW Acustic analog components, and Ortofon cartridges. Representatives of the above companies will be present as well as the owners of High Fidelity Services and High Water Sound.

Speaker Design Contest Open to the Public

Attention all you amateur speaker designers furiously creating the world's next revolutionary crossover or cabinet design in your garage: Meniscus">http://www.iserv.net/~meniscus">Meniscus Audio, a manufacturer of loudspeakers that sells directly to consumers through mail-order marketing programs, has announced a loudspeaker design contest that offers the winner the opportunity to have his or her design developed for distribution as a kit. First- and second-place prizes will also be awarded.

Speaker Verdict Final

Audio companies create products that are based on a variety of technologies, provoking lawsuits every once in a while when patents are involved. One such lawsuit erupted earlier this year as Robert W. Carver, designer for and founder of Sunfire">http://www.sunfire.com">Sunfire Corporation, filed a US patent lawsuit against Audio">http://www.audioprods.com/">Audio Products International (API).
