It's Time for the December Issue!

YG's cute Carmel 2 speaker is featured on the new issue's cover and is exhaustively reviewed by John Atkinson inside. But the meat in our December issue is our annual "Products of the Year," where the magazine's writers and editors vote for the products that impressed them the most in the past year. There are some surprises, not the least of which is the great showing made by some very affordable components.

Music Seminars in Fort Lauderdale Tomorrow

"Is the Artist in the Room?" is the title of two recorded-music seminars being presented November 14 by Philip O’Hanlon of high-end audio distributor On A Higher Note at Florida dealer Audio Elegance (3435 Galt Ocean Drive, Fort Lauderdale) from 1pm–6pm. Philip will be presenting a live demonstration of high-resolution digital formats vs analog recordings.

VPI Open House in New Jersey Saturday

Saturday, November 14, 1–6pm: VPI Industries (10 Riverside Lane, Holmdel) will host an Open House/Listening Party. Guests will be able to enjoy four rooms, each furnished with a system that has been carefully optimized for the specific listening environment. The event will highlight two new pieces of electronics: the Luminous Audio Arion Phonostage (above) and the Fern & Roby Integrated Amplifier, both engineered by Mike Bettinger of Bettinger Audio. Manufacturer representatives from all three companies will be on hand to answer questions and demonstrate the products.

Chicago Dealer Event This Weekend

Chicago dealer Musical Artisans will host their winter open-house event on Saturday, November 14, from 6:30–9:30pm, featuring the North American premiere of four exciting products. Ulrik Madsen, President and lead engineer at Argento Audio and Organic Audio will present the official introduction of the new Organic Reference cable line, and the world premiere of the FMR Extreme Edition interconnects. Irv Gross, Vice President of Sales at Constellation Audio will present the Virgo III preamplifier and all-new Centaur II amplifier in their first appearance at a US dealer. Allan Moulton, US Market Representative for Kharma, will debut the new-generation Exquisite Midi-Grand loudspeakers featuring the radical new F-Driver technology.

Special Events at Manhattan's Innovative Audio, Thursday, Friday, Saturday

Manhattan dealer Innovative Audio Video Showrooms (150 East 58th Street) is celebrating its recent renovation with three “VIP” events: Thursday, November 12, 6–9pm; Friday November 13, 4–7pm; and Saturday, November 14 12–6pm. Special presentations will feature Peter McGrath of Wilson Audio Specialties, Ryan Donaher of Meridian Audio, Dr. Edgar Choueiri of Theoretica/BACCH-SP, and Bill McKiegan of D'Agostino Master Audio Systems.

Wisconsin Dealer Event Tomorrow

Tuesday, November 10, 6–9pm: To celebrate the US dealer premiere of AudioQuest's Niagara 7000 Low-Z Power Noise-Dissipation System, Ultra Fidelis (7125 West North Avenue, Wauwatosa) will host an evening of music, hi-fi, and technology. Special guest Garth Powell, AudioQuest's Director of Power Products, will be on hand to provide a detailed discussion on AC power technology and demonstrate the Niagara 7000 (above).

The Westchester, NY Show Starts Friday

In its latest new location, the Hilton Westchester in Rye Brook, NY, the 2015 edition of the three-day New York Audio Show kicks off on Friday, November 6. The hotel, which is located on 37 acres of woodlands, comes complete with what are reported to be "panoramic view of lush gardens," two swimming pools, tennis courts, whirlpool, sauna, spa, fitness room, walking and jogging trails. While that may be of interest only to out-of-towners staying for the weekend, local guests will want to learn that the venue is a five-minute cab ride from the nearest Metro North train station (think Madmen), and offers free parking.

Canada's TAVES Starts Friday

Canada's biggest three-day consumer audio and lots more show, TAVES, is poised to break its former attendance record when it opens in Toronto, Ontario on October 30. Newly reframed as "Canada's Ultimate Consumer Electronics Show," it opens less than a month after Denver's Rocky Mountain Audio Fest, and a mere week before the start of the Westchester County version of the New York Audio Show.
