Immedia's Allen Perkins happily noted, "Joachim has developed eight loudspeakers in the 14 months Sonics has been in existence and every one of them has been rated 'best in its price class' in reviews in the German audio press. We're pretty sure the US is going to discover the same thing. After all, Joachim designed the Audio Physic Virgo II, which was the least-expensive Class A loudspeaker in "Recommended Components," so he knows how to design affordable high-performance loudspeakers."
Immedia is also distributing Perkins' own Spiral Groove turntables. Perkins founded Spiral Groove to extend the legacy of his Immedia RPM turntables. "Actually, I've had an opportunity to use very high-powered computer software to refine the ideas I originally had for my RPM models. Plus, these days we have access to 8-axis CNC lathes, so we're capable of precision we couldn't even dream of a few years ago." Two models of the Spiral Groove 'tables should be available by early spring, Perkins promised.We asked Perkins about the name change from Immedia to Spiral Groove. "I did it to eliminate confusion," he explained. "Immedia is the distribution company and we distribute Lyra cartridges, Finite Element equipment stands, and Trigon electronics, in addition to Sonics and Spiral Groove.
