Latest Linn News

When we last heard from Linn, The Scotsman reported layoffs, restructuring, and a hoped-for resurgence. On May 25, we received a note from Ivor S. Tiefenbrun, Linn's founder, that he had returned to the positions of chairman and managing director, after an absence of four or five years due to serious health problems, thanks to new medications that have "returned [him] to fitness and restored energy levels."

Further, Mr. Tiefenbrun reported, he has appointed Steve Croft, formerly Linn's UK sales manager, to the position of director of sales. Thomas Saheicha, previous director of sales, has returned to Germany to run Linn's operation there. Brian Morris, Linn's PR director for the last 15 years, has left to open the House of Linn, "an independent Linn reference location and true center of excellence" in Manchester, UK.

In additional Linn-related news, Loewe AG has assumed the operation of its own UK distribution system after having been distributed by Linn for the last 12 years.

We look forward to talking to Mr. Tiefenbrun in the near future to discuss Linn's plans to realign its core business around a "more focused range of even higher quality products, specifically aimed at the premium end of the consumer electronics industry."
