Sidi Touré: Koïma
While 2011’s Sahel Folk was a quiet, intimate collection of duets—Touré and a friend meeting over a cup of tea—Koïma, Sidi Touré’s second full-length album for Thrill Jockey, is a much more jubilant affair.

Silver Jews and Pink Floyds
Dear readers,
Silver Rocket
I'm telling you: Matador's Buy">http://blog.stereophile.com/stephenmejias/buy_early_get_now_sonic_youth… Early Get Now plan is the gift that keeps on giving. First of all, I've been streaming The Eternal every day for the last couple of weeks. It's great. Then, with the pre-sale ticket offer, I scooped up four seats (Orchestra, Row C) for Sonic Youth's July 3 performance at the United Palace Theater in Manhattan. Now, I'm freaking out to this shredding, blazing train wreck of "Silver Rocket" from last year's Fourth of July River to River Festival held at Battery Park. I wasn't there.

Simple Controls
Eden was delighted with the Sapphire's simple controls: Push buttons for power and speed selection, and knobs for speed control.

Sincerely Concerned
Dear Readers,
I admit it. When Jerry commented to last">http://blog.stereophile.com/stephenmejias/041408really/">last week's entry, saying that vinyl wears out with every single trip around the platter, it kind of shook me up. My heart raced and blood rushed to my head. I began to sweat. What had I done? What was I getting into? How would I afford this? Had I stepped into AlexO's bottomless pit?

Sinkane: “Jeeper Creeper”
Ahmed Gallab is perhaps best known for his work in Caribou, Of Montreal, and, most recently, Yeasayer, all bands which combine electronic elements with more organic sounds to get listeners thinking and moving on the dance floor. But Gallab is also keeping busy with his own project, Sinkane.
